Seven colleges and universities are located within or near The Point and partner with local industry to recruit and train both entry-level and skilled workers. Ohio University Southern, Marshall University, Morehead State University Ashland campus, Ashland Community and Technical College, Mountwest Community & Technical College, Shawnee State University and Huntington Junior College provide custom-designed courses for business and industry.

The Workforce Development Resource Center, located in nearby Ironton, Ohio, provides employment screening, interviewing assistance, ACT Work Keys assessment services, career development, and customized training for area employers. The Collins Career Center offers more than 40 courses for youth and adults, preparing them to enter, compete, and advance in the workplace. The center can also provide custom-designed courses for business and industry. There are also trade schools that focus on welding and other important industry trades.
